Jonah is another Banff local on our Altitude team. Rebecca met Jonah when he was 14 years old while recovering from surgery in the Banff Hospital. Jonah initially decided to pursue a career in Kinesiology and Exercise Physiology. This led him to attend UBCs Okanagan campus while playing varsity rugby. After his bachelor’s degree, while working as a kinesiologist and strength coach, his frustration with being unable to answer client questions about their aches and pains drove him to complete a Masters Degree in physiotherapy at the University of Sydney. Upon graduation, Jonah moved to New Zealand where he worked in private practice with an emphasis on acute knee injures, non-surgical management of low back pain, post surgical peripheral limb rehabilitation, chronic pain conditions, and sports specific conditions. Jonah loves working with clients from all walks of life and hearing their stories. Jonah takes an active and specific approach to treatments when it comes to exercise selection and working around injury. Jonah will never tell you to stop moving, but find ways to keep you doing what you love in a safe and progressive manner. Jonah’s main goal is to lessen the confusion and stress that comes with injuries while simplifying and streamlining the process. Outside of work Jonah can be found skiing, surfing, mountain biking, running, or planning other ways to enjoy life outside.

While consistently expanding his knowledge through continuing education, he believes the keys to successful treatment should be collaborative, individualized, and realistic. His background in the strength and conditioning world, combined with his physiotherapy knowledge, has given Jonah a step ahead in his ability to treat clients throughout the entire rehab spectrum from acute stages to high-level performance.

Fabienne has a decade of experience as a physical therapist and has recently completed her sports physiotherapy diploma after numerous years working with different high-performance athletes. For the past six winters, she has worked for the Canadian Alpine Ski Team at various downhill skiing venues around the globe. Nani grew up in the Bow Valley and is a climber, mountain biker, and skier. As a current coach and former member of the Youth National Climbing Team, she has both seen and personally experienced many injuries. This fuelled her desire to learn more, and she went on to complete a Bachelor of Kinesiology majoring in Athletic Therapy, as well as a Master of Science with the International Olympic Committee-sanctioned Sport Injury Prevention Research Centre at the University of Calgary. There she had the opportunity to conduct research into youth and adult climbing injury. She went on to complete a Master of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Alberta wanting to further apply this knowledge. She now works as a coach and therapist with the Youth National Climbing Team, Alberta Provincial Team coach, and Head Coach with the Canmore Youth Climbing Team.

Her belief is that guiding post-injury rehabilitation is only a part of what physiotherapy can provide. Rather than simply being reactive, preventing injury should also be a focus. Improving whole body mechanics, and working to strengthen and decrease imbalances will optimize both general health as well as high performance. She uses various soft tissue techniques and manual therapy, dry needling/IMS, and therapeutic exercise in her treatments.
